Teshuvah Webinar: September 12, 2022, 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. (Eastern)
From Elliott Myrowitz…
“I was reading a discussion on the weekly parsha as we enter the month of Elul, Shoftim (deuteronomy 16:18) , titled Grow, Grow, Why the Torah equates human life with the life of a tree, which is a good read as we start the month of Elul and prepare for the High Holidays. Author Rabbi Matthew V. Soffer says: “There’s a beautiful teaching that says there are five most important mitzvot in the entire Jewish tradition.” Well, that statement caught my attention, and I liked the 5 mitzvot / statements he listed, and is an acrostic for Teshuvah. This to me is much richer than to translate tesuvah as repentance, or turning towards.
“So, I researched where that teaching came from and found a good source pointing to actually several teachers who have looked for an acronym of the 5 letters in Teshuva.
“Click here to see what I found. I hope you find the embedded links of inspirational Teshuvah readings a good source for your Elul month leading to our High Holidays.
“I also want to offer you a chance to discuss these teachings in a Menschwork Webinar.
“On September 12, 2022, at 7:00 p.m., please join the current six Menschwork Mussar Va’ad members, who have studied and practiced Mussar for the past two years, for a webinar discussion on these linked readings.”
