What is a Mishpacha Group?

The Mishpacha Group is the central component of each Jewish Men’s Retreat (“JMR”).

The JPS dictionary defines Mishpacha as:

“Literally, ‘family’. …The word conveys

a warm feeling of friendship.”

We create several small Mishpacha Groups, each with 5-8 men, during each JMR.  Each Mishpacha Group meets three times during the weekend to explore how the retreat’s theme applies to their lives. The Mishpacha Group experience is an opportunity to explore aloud one’s inner self – confidentially  and without feeling evaluated or criticized.

Many JMR participants feel that their Mishpacha Group experience draws their deepest response and describe it as the most important part of the Jewish Men’s Retreat.
