WHAT WE WILL DO:
We’ll reflect on our capacity for gratitude, acknowledge the gifts with which we have been blessed, and explore how in the coming months we’d like to cultivate/use one or two of our gifts to benefit our families, communities or the wider world. (Embodying Gratitude is the theme for the next Jewish Men’s Retreat, JMR31, this November.). Musical interludes will be facilitated by JoJo, including light drumming around the fire and Havdalah.
WHAT TO THINK ABOUT: What are you grateful for? How might you share your blessings with your household, communities or planet now and in the near future?
WHAT TO BRING: Yourselves. We will provide light refreshments and musical enhancements.
WHAT ELSE TO BRING: A havdalah candle, if you have one – we will be observing the transition from Shabbat to the new week during our gathering.
WHO TO BRING: Invite a friend or family member to our Regional Gathering who would appreciate the Menschwork experience! It’s wonderful to offer this opportunity to other men we care about – young and old.
When: Saturday, June 11, 2022 –
7:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
Where: Around the firepit outside JoJo Kottler’s house at 5 Joan Avenue, Sudbury, MA
Local Hosts: Jojo Kottler, Mark Dwortzan, David Strauss and Simon Olsberg
Please RSVP, and let us know that you (and who you may have invited).

After brunch together we did a walking meditation in the field with stops along a model of the 10 Sefirot of The Tree of life. Then the group in a circle shared if there was an experience at any stop of an experience that had gratitude for or an aspiration that they became aware of.

David Malchman hosted the New York/New Jersey Regional Gathering at Taylor Park in Millburn, New Jersey. The attendees explored their roles as Jews, and Men, over the past year, and the coming year. The gathering provided an opportunity to socialize, learn, explore Judaism and relevant themes to us as individuals and as a group, as men — in a thoughtful way, out of the norm of the hustle and bustle.

Given that the gathering occured during Elul’s time of reflection, the men shared what has been happenign in their: excitements, struggles, delights, fears, questions, and quandaries. Looking ahead to JMR 28’s Beresheet theme of new beginnings, the group also reflected about what that means to them right now.
