Description
Lev to Lev Conversation Series: Retirement
Session 1:
Date: Thursday, March 12, 2026
Time: 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (Eastern)
Planning for retirement often focuses on financial preparation. While this is certainly very important, we need to be prepared psychologically as well. This major change in our lives affects everything from our daily routines to our relationships to our sense of identity and purpose. Dr. Riley Moynes, in his Ted Talk, has described four distinct phases of retirement:
- Vacation;
- Loss;
- Trial and Error; and
- Renewal and Reinvention.
In our next series of Lev to Lev Conversations, we will focus on retirement as both challenge and opportunity. Whether you are just starting to consider retirement, actively involved in the process, or already retired, this major life event has lots to consider. Sharing stories with our brothers in the Menschwork community has great potential meaning.
There will be three Lev to Lev Conversations about Retirement, facilitated by Josh Millman, David Shaw and Chris Taranta. All three of these Menschwork Brothers are actively dealing with this issue in their own lives and they’ve done a fair amount of research about the topic with the goal of helping understand it better. The first meeting will focus on hearing the stories of Brothers’ expectations and/or experiences of retirement, addressing questions such as:
- How will you fill your days?
- How do you find your purpose?
- What happens when your retirement does not work out as planned?
The subsequent two meetings will explore topics that emerge from those stories and shared experiences.
The three meeting dates are:
- Thursday, March 12th from 7:30-9:00 p.m
- Monday, March 30th from 5-6:30 p.m.
- Thursday, April 16th from 7:30-9:00 p.m.
Lev to Lev Conversations are open to all Jewish men, including those who have not yet been involved with Menschwork; this is an opportunity to invite others to join these important conversations. Chris has two close friends just starting retirement whom he plans to invite to the meeting and you are encouraged not only to participate yourself but to invite men outside of Menschwork to join us. There is no fee for the Lev to Lev Conversations; donations are always welcome and can be added when you register.
As always with conversations like this, what is shared in the sessions will remain strictly confidential. Lev to Lev Conversations are modeled on our successful MenschGroups ~ ongoing closed groups that allow men to explore and reflect though their emotions and values . . . and to be heard . . . to give and receive without judgement.
We’re excited to share our experiences and what we’ve learned with you and more importantly to hear what you have to share with us. Registration for each session in the series is separate; the link to sign up for the first session can be found here.
Please note that this session will start promptly at 7:30 p.m. and entry will close at 7:35 p.m.
Please support Menschwork by adding a donation when you register.
